Melanie Kusznireckyj is an accredited Naturopathic Doctor. She is the Vice-President of the Quebec Association of Naturopathic Medicine (www.qanm.org), the only association to recognize accredited NDs. In this position, Melanie aims to achieve regulation of naturopathic medicine in Quebec and to encourage the highest level of naturopathic medicine education in Quebec.
Biography
Melanie is a graduate of the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine, a 4-year post-graduate program. She completed her bachelors of science in Biology at the University of Ottawa, with specialty in ecology and botany. She has volunteered in Nicaragua with Natural Doctors International and has traveled to the rain forest for research. Melanie was involved with research as part of the World Health Organization and the International Agency for the Research on Cancer. In her spare time, Melanie enjoys contemporary dance and choreography, meditation, travel, and hiking. Currently, Melanie is involved in homeopathic research with the Canadian Academy of Homeopathy.

Melanie’s key area of focus is to work through mental and emotional affections such as anxiety, depression, bipolar, hypersensitivity, post-traumatic and stress disorder, and addictions. She also has extensive experience working with pregnancy, pediatric conditions, and general women’s health concerns.

The direction of her clinical practice is to bring about wellness by addressing the root cause of the imbalance and using gentle, non-toxic remedies and lifestyle changes. The purpose is to eliminate suppression and encourage healing through prevention and healthy living. Her top choices of remedies Melanie will likely use are nutrition, homeopathy, meditation, and lifestyle counseling. While the training of a ND does not include the use of pharmaceutical medications (except in certain provinces where it is regulated), Melanie has a strong understanding of pharmacy and surgical intervention to support either or both of these medical strategies.

With a strong understanding of medical diagnosis and treatments, Melanie incorporates and integrates complimentary remedies and lifestyle modifications to cope and manage illness. Her areas of expertise are meditation coaching, homeopathy, environmental medicine (healthy detoxification), and nutrition. She also combines Traditional Chinese Medicine philosophy of healing.
The goal of the sessions are to:
- identify causes of your health concern(s) from a naturopathic medicine perspective (or Traditional Chinese Medicine) through a detailed medical history, examination, and laboratory
- determine strategies for prevention and management of illness using therapies such as homeopathy, meditation coaching, nutrition and lifestyle, botanical medicine, supplementation
- consult on the integration of natural therapies to conventional medical care and interventions
- utilize naturopathic medicine as first line or primary care for most health concerns, excluding emergencies
- establish communication with other health care providers
Meditation coaching:
Deep breathing and meditation techniques for the nervous system, for fostering your spiritual insights, and for developing core strength – physically, emotionally, mentally, and energetically.
Homeopathy:
Chronic and acute conditions. Low dose and gentle, safe natural therapy. Common conditions helped by homeopathy: headaches, chronic sinusitis, menstrual irregularities, infections, inflammatory conditions, immune system abnormalities (including auto-immune), allergies, anxiety, depression, skin conditions, colds, sprains, strains, flus, infections, pre and post-surgery.
All pediatric related conditions – autism, behavioral disorders, chronic allergies and infections.
