The classes are fun, giggly and active!
Our mission is to help children connect mind and body through fun yoga routines designed specifically for children. We believe that all children can benefit from ZenKids Yoga classes, while having fun!
Is your child ready to enjoy better health and physical wellness? Our programs are designed to help kids attain well-being, strength, relaxation and a connection between mind and body through active participation in routines incorporating songs, movement, creativity, art and freedom of expression.
What is Yoga and why is it good for kids?
Yoga is meditative motion. It is a time to slow down and take notice of body and breath. It is the enjoyment of the movement from pose to pose. It is a time to take pause from the distractions and the “busyness” of the often fast pace of life. It is a time to reflect, ponder and feel, to just BE.
Yoga is great for kids as it allows them the time, space and opportunity to discover and become aware of their physical bodies. It allows for kids to become aware of breath and how this awareness can help them in their everyday life (for example, older children can use “calming breaths” if they are feeling stress). It can also help for children to become aware of what they are physically experiencing to begin with, such as to recognize how stress shows up in their bodies, so they can be mindful of it and use the tools they have learned at ZenKids Yoga classes to help deal with it. It is important to know our bodies, how they work and our mind/body connection.
A ZenKids Yoga class is a time and place for freedom of self-exploration through movement, asanas (poses) and breathwork, to become aware of the connection between the physical world and self. All of this is done in an atmosphere of acceptance, where there is freedom of expression, along with music, singing, games, art and storytelling. Along with a lot of laughter, silliness, and fun!
